Sidestepping the thinning membrane of today’s inflated trends, Afriqua (aka Adam Longman Parker) forgoes specialization in any particular genre, all the while achieving equilibrium between youthful inventiveness and a mature artistic philosophy.
Here’s Afriqua in his three chosen tracks:
Sensorama- Ventil (Q-mulator Mix By Mouse on Mars)
“It’s hard to believe this is 20 years old, as it sounds more like it’s returned from 20 years in the future. A very early Mouse on Mars remix, and a very effective way to confuse all of your friends at an after party. ”
Krisp- Farlige Fiffus
“This record almost never gets played, but also never leaves my bag. Beautifully detailed and intricate, but not at all nerdy. Super freaky business from Bjørn Torske.”
Barker- Filter Bubbles
“My favorite track from one of my favorite releases of the year so far, Barker’s Debiasing EP. I’m so impressed with the concept and execution of this record. It’s hard not to feel lucky on the rare occasions when so little digging is required to find something this good.”
Afriqua is playing at CROSSROADS FESTIVAL on Sunday July 8th.
